How the Diamond Finder works

01

You describe it

Plain language. "Oval, around $6,000, should look big but still sparkle." No filter vocabulary to learn first.

02

The AI reads it - and only it

It extracts what you actually said and nothing more. It never invents a carat range, a price or a quality grade you did not mention.

03

Our data answers the hard part

What can $6,000 actually buy? That comes from live inventory, not the model - because a language model guesses, and our own stock does not.

04

You stay in control

Every interpretation is shown as a chip you can remove, with the reasoning behind it. Disagree with one? Take it off and the results update.

Questions about the Diamond Finder

How does the AI diamond search work?
You describe what you want in plain language. The AI reads your request and extracts only what you actually said - shape, budget, carat, and preferences like "eye-clean" or "looks big". It never invents details you did not mention. Those extracted facts are then turned into real search filters and run against live diamond inventory, so every result is a diamond you can actually buy right now.
Does the AI decide what a diamond is worth?
No. The AI only interprets your words. Every price, carat range and match count comes from our live inventory and our published pricing methodology, not from the AI. For example, if you ask for "the biggest diamond for $5,000", we query what is genuinely in stock at that budget rather than letting a language model guess - because language models are unreliable at exactly that kind of market question.
What does "eye-clean" mean here?
We interpret eye-clean as VS2 to SI1 clarity. At these grades inclusions are typically not visible to the unaided eye, so you get the same face-up appearance as a flawless stone without paying the premium for grades you cannot see. Whenever we apply an interpretation like this, the page tells you it did.
Why did my search return lab-grown diamonds?
If you do not say natural or lab-grown, both are included - and we tell you the split. At a fixed budget, lab-grown diamonds are typically far larger than natural ones, so a request like "biggest diamond for $5,000" will surface lab-grown stones. If no natural diamond in our tracked inventory matches your criteria, the page says so explicitly rather than quietly showing you something else.
Can I change what the AI decided?
Yes. Every interpreted filter appears as a chip you can remove, and the results link updates immediately. You can also open the full manual filters at any point, or rewrite your request. The AI proposes a starting point - you stay in control of the search.
Can I search for jewelry, not just loose diamonds?
Yes. You do not need to decide which search tool to use before you ask. Describe a tennis bracelet, engagement ring, earrings or pendant and the system routes your request to the right inventory automatically. Requests that need both - like "an oval engagement ring around $7,000" - can return matching centre stones and settings.
What happens if the AI is unavailable?
The search still works. If the AI service is slow, rate-limited or unavailable, we fall back to deterministic keyword matching and tell you we did. The filters may be broader than you asked for, but you always get a real search against real inventory - the AI is never a single point of failure.
Is my search private?
We store an anonymized version of each search to understand what shoppers are looking for. Names, email addresses and phone numbers are stripped before anything is written, exact budgets are stored as broad bands rather than precise figures, and we never store your IP address or link a search to you. Searches shown publicly under "what other shoppers are looking for" are aggregated across multiple people, never attributed to an individual.
