What to know before you buy

01

Lab-grown prices have been falling, and that is structural

Our own 16-month price history shows sustained double-digit annual decline in lab-grown across shapes - this is an ongoing trend driven by production capacity, not a sale that closes on Friday. There is no urgency argument to make here, and we are not going to invent one. Buy when you want the stone.

02

Spend the saving on cut, not on colour or clarity

At two carats a lab-grown stone is affordable enough that the usual budget compromises stop being necessary - which is exactly when buyers over-buy grades they cannot see. Cut grade is the one that changes how the diamond actually looks. Colour above H and clarity above VS2 mostly change the paperwork.

03

Two carats is a visible step, not an incremental one

Face-up diameter grows with the cube root of weight, so a two-carat round is roughly 26% wider than a one-carat, not twice as wide. It reads clearly larger across a room. It also needs a setting rated for the weight - worth budgeting for before, not after.

Questions people ask about this search

How much is a 2 carat lab-grown round diamond?

The median listing price is $2,120 right now, across 4,499 matching diamonds in our tracked inventory. The middle half of the market sits between $2,030 and $2,530. The lowest currently listed is $1,060. Every figure here is recomputed from live listings each time the page loads, so it will not match a screenshot taken last week.

How many are available right now?

4,499 listings match this search in our tracked inventory as of 14 October 2026. Inventory changes continuously, so this number moves.

Are lab-grown diamond prices still falling?

Yes. Our own tracked price history shows a sustained decline across lab-grown shapes over the past 16 months, driven by growing production capacity rather than by any seasonal or promotional cycle. That means there is no urgency argument for buying today rather than next month, and we are not going to manufacture one. It also means a lab-grown diamond should be bought as something you want to own, not as something you expect to hold value.

Is a 2 carat lab-grown round noticeably bigger than a 1 carat?

Clearly, but not twice as big. Face-up diameter grows with the cube root of weight, so doubling the carat adds roughly 26% to the width - about 6.5mm to about 8.1mm on a well-cut round. That reads as a distinctly larger stone at conversational distance. It also needs a setting built for the weight, which is worth budgeting for before you choose the diamond rather than after.
